Blesten was born November 6, 2015 in Namwala. His mother is blind and unable to care for him, and his father ran away when he found out the mother was pregnant, fearing prosecution for abuse. He was being raised by his aunt who has children of her own, and he had not been for a medical checkup or gained any weight in months. The Namwala Social Welfare Office became aware of his situation and signed custodial rights over to us. Blesten arrived at New Day in July of 2017.
